REMEMBER ME Not so much a band as a supercharged sonic assault, Brighton's rock commandos devastate on many levels. The title track pummels with a Bob Mould-flavoured charred poignancy. A lovely Day Tomorrow is quietly fractured, while Birdy is freaked. A scorcher. SC, Sleazenation, November 2001
The Brighton-based quartet's first single proper is this rushing, adrenalin-charged monster of a tune, which has traditionally kicked-off their cracking live performances. Remember Me demands your attention and wins it, instantly. This cut possesses an epic feel, one of elemental soundscapes and gathering coastal storms. The scorching guitar sound is reminiscent of Robert Fripp-era Bowie and the mysterious Yan's bronchial lead vocal is desperate and poignant, as if he's being battered by the crashing wall of sound. It may be a little melodramatic but there's real emotion and a dark beauty in the 'Power's sound. www.vizzavi.co.uk, December 2001
Remember Me has possibly
the best first minute and a half of any record this year - pounding drums
and swirling guitars that thrash like a salmon on the hook line - it's
darn good. Steve Sexton, www.totallywired.co.uk, 20th November 2001 |
